About the exhibition
Visual Art Exhibition (Pixel Art)
It presents an artistic experience that explores the dreams and aspirations of the youth of Benghazi in the aftermath of the war, through a pixel art comic by Libyan artist Munir Al-Warfali. The work documents the collective experience of an entire generation, reflecting on what might have been and where they stand today.
It employs a visual narrative style using pixel art in an effort to evoke feelings of nostalgia for the past, create space for reflection on the present, and look toward the future. It also invites visitors to reconsider the dreams that accompanied the post-war period and to ponder whether those dreams are still alive or have become mere memories.
It represents a distinctive artistic contribution to the field of comics, combining digital art with human storytelling to offer a visual experience that reflects the reality and aspirations of Libyan youth through a vision that draws on creativity as a means of reflection and foresight.
The exhibition took place over two days, Saturday and Sunday, hosted by the Canadian Academy of Libya and supported by the Arab Fund for Culture and Arts (AFAC).
